Rules and Volunteer Umpire Training

This coming Saturday, March 23 at 9 AM, Sprague Little League will have training day for volunteer umpires, coaches, and parents on the basics of the rules and the how-to's of umpiring a game.

Sprague Little League, and our neighbor leagues we play against, depend on volunteer umpires to work our games, which start the first weekend in April. Opening Day Ceremonies will be Saturday, April 6.

If you have stepped up, and stepped onto, the field before, this is a chance to polish up your game before the games begin again.

If you are a parent looking for a fun way to get some volunteer hours and see the game better than you can from behind the fence, this is a chance to get started.

And remember, all home teams may be required to provide a plate umpire, and all visiting teams may need to provide the field umpire. (It's in the rules!) Better to be prepared!

Saturday morning at the Crossler fields, starting at 9 AM, we will take you through "A Day In The Life Of A Sprague Umpire". We have the gear you need to get started, and years of experience to help you with tips to be successful. There are also some new rules this year, and some changes to AAA ball to learn about.

And if the weather isn't game day ready, don't worry, we will move inside to the Crossler Commons.
