Sprague
Little League Families –
The
Salem-Keizer School District has informed Sprague Little League that we are not
to be on the fields at Crossler Middle School any earlier than 6pm or we risk
losing access entirely to the fields for the rest of the season.
While
we are trying to communicate with the school and school district about this
situation, we want to make sure we abide by their rules.
Because
of this, please do not show up at the fields until 6pm. It’s fine to show
up in the parking lot before then and walk to the fields, but please do not
actually step foot on the fields or in the dugouts until 6pm and your Manager
or Coach tells you it’s OK.
With
this in mind, it becomes even more important for parents to help Managers and
Coaches with field preparation (lining the baselines and batters’ box, setting
up bases, raking the fields and putting out garbage cans) as we will have even
less time than before to safely and effectively warm up the players before
starting our games. It also means games will not start right at 6pm as we
will need at least 15-20 minutes to prepare the fields, warm up the players and
then start the game.
As we work to resolve this unfortunate situation, we appreciate your
patience and your support for our programs and our volunteers. If you are acquainted with any of
the Crossler administrators or School Board members and know who might be an
advocate for our League in this situation, please let us know.
Thank
you,
Sprague
